A buyer’s guide to beds

Even if you don’t get the recommended 8 hours of sleep every night, countless hours of your days are spent in bed. This time is used for sleeping, watching TV, and enjoying the occasional breakfast in bed. As a result, people focus a lot on the type of mattress that they are purchasing for their comfort. At Des Kelly, we have a large variety of mattresses that can fit your needs and our dedicated bed experts to helping our customers find the right mattress for them. However, before selecting a mattress, one has to determine what type of bed they are looking for. The type of bed, you’re purchasing will help to identify the sort of mattress that is needed.

We have a comprehensive collection of beds that suit the needs of all of our customers. Each bed has a unique look and is made to fit the needs of the individual. Here’s a brief overview of the types of beds available at Des Kelly interiors.

Divan Beds:

Divan Beds are distinct for the inclusion of drawers in the base. Each base is constructed by a wooden frame that is then covered in fabric. The mattress sits on top of the bed instead of in a frame. This allows for Divan beds to take up less space in a room and making it a good fit for those that have limited room.

For Divan beds, it’s important to note that they can be purchased with a matching mattress. However, if there is a mattress that you prefer using or if you are only in need of the bed, a Divan base can be purchased instead.

Children’s Beds:

Beds for your little ones should be practical and allow the possibility for creativity. Our collection of children’s beds are an affordable and sturdy choice for your family. We also have a nice collection of bunk beds, perfectly suited for sleepovers and large families.

Frame Beds:

Frame beds have become increasingly popular. This is because, unlike Divan beds, they can take up more space in a bedroom and can turn them into a focal point. Think about how easy it is for a bed to draw your eye when entering a room. For frame beds, they won’t come in a set with a matched mattress so the choice is yours after selecting the frame. When purchasing a frame bed, you can choose between metal and wood which both have their own appeal. A tip for frame beds is to occasionally tighten the bolts to prevent them from becoming squeaky.

Day and Sofa Beds:

Sofa beds have a reputation for being cheap, plain options for college students but that isn’t the case anymore. Sofa beds can come in different stylish options while providing a comfortable sleeping option for guests. If a sofa bed would be valuable to your home then it’s a wise investment.

Coupled with sofa beds are day beds. These beds are multifunctional. They can be used as a couch and a bed while also creating storage space underneath. Consider using purchasing a day bed for a spare room to create a place to lounge and relax.
