Bleach cleanable carpets are made of 100% polypropylene fibres which repel spills & stains, making them exceptionally easy to clean! When anything spills onto the polypropylene the dirt just sits on top of the fibre instead of penetrating into it, making this type of carpet perfect for busy family homes!
Modern life demands a modern carpet. In today’s busy lifestyles you need a carpet that not only looks good but performs under the most arduous conditions. Carefree stain resistant carpets are manufactured with this in mind and to make life even easier for people.
Made using specially developed high-quality polypropylene fibres – our carpets feel soft & luxurious – but are completely practical with their stain-resistant properties. This is due to the unique properties of the Carefree fibre – spills or stains literally ‘sit’ on the surface waiting for you to clean or simply blot away using a household kitchen roll.
Affordable Quality and for those really stubborn stains, you can even use household bleach – without marking or ruining your stain-resistant carpet. Leaving you to get on with your life without the worry of ruined carpet or expensive bills.
Spilt red wine? Spilt black coffee? Did mud trample over your carpets? With these stain-resistant carpets, it’s no problem at all, even if the spills have started to stain. Family life is busy enough without the constant worry of spilling things on your carpets and the risk of wither having to live with horrible stains or have to have the hassle of replacing your carpet.
Important: The only carpet that is safe to use a bleach mix on is a 100% polypropylene carpet. Always check with your Des Kelly Interiors store if you are not sure of your carpet’s make up. Bleach will lift colour from wool, cord or any other carpet type so it’s really important to make sure your carpet is definitely made only from polypropylene if you don’t want patches.
Before preparing any bleach solution, ensure that your hands are covered with rubber gloves, and put on a mask to protect your respiratory system from the toxic smell produced by the bleach and keep the room well ventilated.
Stain-resistant and bleach cleanable carpets are great at keeping their looks, if you keep them on top of the stains so here are some techniques for getting rid of those stains.
Absorb the spill by blotting using a kitchen towel or toilet paper, don’t rub.
If crusty or hard stain, scrape lightly to remove (dull edge of the spoon is ideal) and vacuum to remove any excess dried crumbs or loose bits
Using kitchen roll or toilet paper, continue to blot and soak up excess moisture. Repeat until all moisture is removed.
Leave to dry naturally and keep the area exposed. Avoid walking on the area until completely dry.

Ideally, choose an upright vacuum for the cut pile and a suction cleaner for the loop pile.
Put doormats at all entrances and exits to minimise wear, and clean walkthrough areas frequently. Cleaning these areas first can stop dirt from being spread throughout the carpet
It is far easier to remove stains if they are attended to immediately, although left in stains can be worked out on these amazing stain-resistant carpets but you will save yourself some elbow grease if you do it right away.
Nothing beats periodic professional cleaning. Specially formulated professional cleansers, developed for carpets, will enhance the carpet performance and increase its life.
