Q & A With Lorraine Keane
What made you start looking for a new mattress?
To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t. I attended the launch of the Long Mile Road Store and saw the mattress. At the time I had just gotten a new perimenopause symptom which was night sweats, and I just wasn’t sleeping when I saw this mattress and saw the science behind it, I just thought I need to try this mattress because at that stage I would’ve tried anything.
What key qualities were you looking for in a mattress?
Definitely how it’s made, preferably made in Ireland, the brand, it has to be a reputable brand. For me, I like a medium mattress Peter would prefer a firm one, but we’ve made that mistake before.
What made you come into Des Kelly Interiors?
I would always pop into their stores, I love my Interiors, they're always very helpful and I feel like I’m in safe hands. I’ve gotten a lot of things from here not just floors, furniture too, it’s a really nice place to browse.
Since switching to the Cool Harmony Mattress how has your quality of sleep improved?
It’s just a game changer; it has made a massive difference. We’re all obsessed with sleep; we spend a third of our lives in bed so why wouldn’t you invest in a really good mattress.
What specific features of the Cool Harmony Mattress have made the biggest difference in your sleep?
The cooling technology is the obvious one because when I’m asleep in bed, and I feel like I’m overheating all I have to do is literally move position. That has made a massive difference for me. At least now I go to bed and I know I’m not going to have a disturbed sleep.
What advice would you give to someone who is struggling with sleep discomfort?
Knowledge is key, educate yourself so find out all of the things you can do for yourself. For someone whose going through hormonal change it is important to look at the fibres, natural fibres are always best. Do your research, invest in a really good mattress that you know is going to work.
What would you say to someone who is considering the Cool Harmony Mattress but isn’t sure if it’s the right fit for them?
Just go for it, try it, you will not regret it! It genuinely works, I know from experience, the science is there, the technology is there for that reason it can’t not work so I would say try it. Invest in yourself, you deserve it, you’re worth it.
You’re a trusted advocate for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. How can we, as a society, help break the stigma and taboo around menopause?
It’s about talking like what we’re doing here tonight, talking and sharing and not being embarrassed. The generations before us were made to feel ashamed and embarrassed, that’s why it’s so important to talk because it gets rid of the stigma. By doing that were also educating and supporting each other.
